Use SimplyHired Job Search & Salary Parser with Python
Search SimplyHired by keyword, location, employment type, remote work, and salary, and get parsed salary ranges, benefits, qualifications, and full descriptions for each job.
1. Choose the data you need
Review the published README for supported collection modes, examples, and limits. The recipe below uses the current published input definition.
2. Prepare a source-based input
This JSON contains published prefills and required-field defaults. Review every value for your task before running it; it is not a promise of successful collection.

| Field | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
mode | string | required | What to fetch: search jobs on SimplyHired, or scrape specific SimplyHired URLs you already have. |
searchQueries | array | optional | One or more job titles, skills, or keywords. Each entry runs as its own search, e.g. `registered nurse` or `python developer, remote`. Ignored when Search URLs are provided. |
searchUrls | array | optional | Full SimplyHired search URLs, including any filters and a country domain (e.g. https://www.simplyhired.co.uk/search?q=nurse&l=London). When provided, these are used instead of the query, location and filter fields. |
jobUrls | array | optional | SimplyHired job URLs (https://www.simplyhired.com/job/...) or search URLs to scrape directly. Job IDs may also be pasted on their own. |
location | string | optional | City, state, ZIP code, or `remote`. Leave empty to search nationwide (mode=search). |
country | string | optional | Which SimplyHired site to search (mode=search). Choose the country that matches your location. |
radius | string | optional | Distance around the location (mode=search). Only applies when a location is set. |
sortBy | string | optional | Order of the search results (mode=search). |
datePosted | string | optional | Only include jobs added within this window (mode=search). |
employmentType | string | optional | Filter by employment type (mode=search). |
minSalary | integer | optional | Only jobs with pay at or above this amount, in the local currency of the selected country (e.g. 100000 = $100,000 a year on the US site). Leave 0 for no filter. |
remoteType | string | optional | Filter by remote work arrangement (mode=search). |
developerSkill | string | optional | Only jobs tagged with this software skill (mode=search). Applies mainly to tech roles; combine several skills with Developer skills below. |
developerSkills | array | optional | Additional software skills to require together with the Developer skill above (mode=search). Use skill names such as `Python`, `SQL`, `React` (or their codes). Jobs must match every listed skill. |
fetchJobDetails | boolean | optional | Fetch each job's detail payload for the full description, parsed salary, coordinates, qualifications and employer rating. Adds one fast request per job. Turn off for search-card fields only. |
enrichCompanyPages | boolean | optional | Look up each employer's SimplyHired company page (once per employer) and add its address, size, revenue band and industry when the page's company name matches the listing. Off by default. |
maximizeCoverage | boolean | optional | When a search hits SimplyHired's per-search result limit, continue with extra facet searches (job types and developer skills) and merge the unique jobs. Slower and uses more requests, but returns more of the matching jobs. |
maxItems | integer | optional | Hard cap on the number of job records returned. |
3. Start an Actor run
Set APIFY_TOKEN in your environment. Python 3.10 or newer is sufficient; this recipe uses no third-party packages.
Execution may incur charges. Review current pricing on Apify. The request asks for a 120-second timeout and a charge limit; these settings are subject to Apify’s pricing and do not guarantee an all-inclusive spending cap.

# Save the schema-derived example as input.json; review and edit it first.
with open("input.json", encoding="utf-8") as stream:
actor_input = json.load(stream)
token = os.environ["APIFY_TOKEN"]

# This starts a potentially billable run. Do not automatically retry this POST.
with urllib.request.urlopen(request, timeout=40) as response:
run = json.load(response)["data"]
print("Run ID:", run["id"])
print("Status:", run["status"])
# Inspect and download results in Apify Console once the run succeeds.
4. Inspect the actual results
Open the run in Apify Console and wait for a successful completion. Use the published output schema to locate results and the dataset schema to understand declared views. Missing or optional record fields must not be treated as guaranteed values.
SimplyHired job records from 23 country sites with parsed salary ranges, employment types, remote-work status, coordinates, full descriptions and application links.
Questions before you run
Which inputs are required?
The published required fields are mode
What does this guide verify?
The fields, prefills, and schema links are rendered from the published build. This is a usage recipe, not a paid live extraction test. Source availability and collection results can vary.
What if the run request times out?
Check Apify Console before retrying. The first request may already have created a run. Do not automatically repeat a run-creation POST.
